The verdict was handed down by a New York jury after 8 days of deliberation on the former WorldCom CEO and mastermind behind the accounting scandal that brought down the telcom giant.     Wednesday, August 31, 2011 Wikileaks today announced via twitter that its website has crashed under an apparent cyber-attack; this following the recent release of tens of thousands of US State Department cables. Sources in the US say the mass-disclosure of cables is causing diplomatic setbacks, and embarrassment, for the administration of Barack Obama. These previously unreleased cables are said to contain the names of sensitive sources that the authors asked higher bodies to “strictly protect”.     Clothes from China piling up on European borders

    Wednesday, August 24, 2005 Clothes worth millions of euros are being blocked in European warehouses after the European Union imposed quotas on ten types of textiles from China. The European Commission agreed to the quotas with China in July and many of them, including jumpers (sweaters) and trousers were quickly exceeded. Retailers across Europe are now claiming they face massive losses.     Bayern Munich signs Corentin Tolisso from Lyon

    Thursday, June 15, 2017 Yesterday, German football club FC Bayern Munich announced signing of Corentin Tolisso from Olympique Lyonnais. The 22-year-old French international midfielder has signed a five-year contract. Tolisso joined Lyon’s academy when he was 13-years-old and made 160 appearance for the club in all competitions scoring 29 goals. Via their official website, Lyon announced that the clubs agreed to a fee of €41.5 million (£35 million) for Tolisso’s transfer.     Friday, December 1, 2006 The U.S. government warned private financial services that al Qaeda is planning a cyber attack on the U.S. stock and bank accounts, officials said on Thursday.     Wednesday, October 11, 2006 A small aircraft struck an apartment building in New York this afternoon, killing the pilot and a flight instructor. Cory Lidle, a pitcher for the New York Yankees baseball team, was the registered owner of the aircraft and is believed to have been piloting it; his passport was found on the scene.     Saturday, August 20, 2005 A power outage in Indonesia that left about 100 million people without electricity has caused a political crisis. The country’s state-owned energy monopoly, PLN, has not determined the immediate cause, and the country’s president has ordered the national intelligence agency and police to investigate. The blackout appears related to deficiencies in Indonesia’s power generation capacity.
